Helluvah's real name is Camille Warmé, a French songwriter born in 1982.After a first 5-track demo intitled Lost in progress that gets good reviews from the underground press, Helluvah made many concerts both in France and abroad.
She keeps on writing and composes Emotion pills.
« I wanted this record to be some kind of radiograph of my musical and personnal experience. One often wants to put everything on a first record. As for me, I wanted to express the essential. By « essential », I don't mean what is obvious, because things that are hidden and underlying can be, if not more, interesting. By « essential » I mean I wanted a record that hits hard and sounds true in only 12 songs. It's about finding the essence of my music in its multiplicity. It sounds almost like an oxymoron, but that's what's interesting about it. I love rock music but I have a folk guitar and I use electro drum machines. I love distorsion and sweet arpeggios. I love to scream, murmur, and say things clearly. But it should never be done in an incoherent way. It must hold together. Some very different kinds of emotion pills for a unique explosive cocktail. »
Between rock and folk, rage and sweetness, Helluvah's songs are of a rare intensity.
She's an artist to discover.
Les Inrockuptibles wrote about her : « Helluvah's diluvial rock has haunted our summer trips in a very nice way ».
