ARTIST INFO:
"Tell me the number of your planet or, at least, the number of your galaxy in the spiral!"
Left alone in the Russian countryside with a portable electronic brain, a fridge full of beer and a huge pot of delicious marinated mushrooms, Navigator Mukhomorov founded Radio Datscha in 2003. During that time he used to escape from his exiting life as a member of the legendary "Spaceport Orkestra of Benares" under the never-darkening summer sky of Leningrad county.

Navigator M. loved to send messages to and receive messages from the universe, into which he was thrown in the totally meaningless year of 1970. So he put up his antenna, opened a bottle of beer and surfed along the radio waves, which filled the empty sky above him. One brilliant summer evening he attached three huge specimens of Amanita muscaria to the tentacles of his antenna and nothing happened.

But some nights later, all of a sudden Navigator M.'s receiver had tuned into cosmic frequencies: echoes of every sound that ever left its trace in the air around Planet No. 3 lived on in DJ (or DJane) Almighty's record boxes. Around the lost and found footage Radio Datscha's first tracks started to flower like potato fields in May. Navigator M. did not manage to identify all the times and places the sounds came from, nor does he like to explain what he thought about, when he made these tracks. But there are some things he would like you to know, of course.

The honourable master Erhard Dengl plays the hammered dulcimer on "25th century samurai", Tobias Ott added drum loops, further, excerpts from a "Spaceport Orkestra" session with the same material were used. Navigator M. has no idea, what the Japanese words mean.
"psylokopter" is the name of a flying object constructed by Tobias Ott, who also contributed the well-crafted beat to this track. The "message" of the song is spoken by Dr. Timothy Leary whose ashes still circle around our planet. Navigator M. wonders if anybody will ask by whom the words in the middle part are spoken.

"zhiraf" was conceived and spoken by Moscow singer Ekaterina Kazankova. The words are from a poem by N. S. Gumilev. The track is a spontaneous kitchen recording made at Radio Datscha's tea table on a rainy Saturday afternoon, when the weary musicians longed for the mysterious and exotic land described in the poem.

"moya planeta" means "my planet". Everybody should know the number of his planet, shouldn't they? The Russian words in the song mean: "Tell me the number of your planet or, at least, the number of your galaxy in the spiral!" and "Comrade! This guy thinks he is an alien. We have to do something!"

"p.o.t." is a session for Radio Datscha by its mother project "Spaceport Orkestra" and was composed by Tobias Ott and Navigator M. The sarod solo is played by Mr. Ghosh (see "rendez-vous..." below). Sound artifacts by Thomas Kleinschmitt and his machines.

On "diskofoniya" you can hear, maybe the one and only time in your life, the sound of a Soviet "Vilnius-2" synthesizer. Navigator M. has no idea, what the Chinese words in the intro mean. Tabla offbeat by Tobias Ott.

"rendez-vous with rama" features the famous south Indian singer Mrs. Ramamani and the north Indian sarod player Mr. Ghosh. It was originally composed by Tobias Ott. The recordings of Mrs. Ramamani were made at Kanataka College of Percussion, Bangalore. Mr. Ghosh was recorded at Soultal Studio.

"several species of small fury didge players" is the secret hymn of the even more secret anti-didgeridoo movement initiated by Navigator M. in the late 1990ies.

"1974 ... is the year ... that they are now planning for sex in the streets in every major city from cost to coast!". Anti-1968 backlash at an early high. Apart from this mad preacher's voice, sounds from the streets of Saigon were used.

„frequencies above sholkovo part 23" is played by Thomas Kleinschmitt and Navigator M. The track is a guest appearance of Radio Datscha's sister project "Chinese Rocket Soldiers".
With love from Radio Datscha! Good listening!
