Inspired by the Japanese visual-kei scene and the brutality of Swedish
hardcore and metal, Marionette has brought new light to the metal
genre. Mixing elegance, darkness, power, aggression, and speed,
Marionette’s debut album, Spite, hit the metal scene with the power of
an atomic bomb in April 2008, receiving raving reviews from top hard
rock and metal publications such as Kerrang!, Rock Hard, Metal Hammer,
and Terrorizer Magazines. As the touring cycle for Spite begins, this
Gothenburg sextet seeks nothing more than total domination and aural
destruction.

Marionette was founded in late 2005 by bassist Mikael Medin who
wanted to form a band that sought to mix the aesthetic and ambiance of
Japanese music with the harshness and aggression of Swedish metal and
hardcore: a previously unheard of and an original combination of
styles. Marionette recorded its second EP Terror Hearts with Henryk
Lipp (Burst) and Christian Silver (Sonic Syndicate) during the fall of
2006. Terror Hearts was mixed and mastered by Fredrik Nordström (In
Flames, At The Gates) in December of that year.

Marionette entered a number of national and international contests
in support of Terror Hearts: placing in the top tier of each. The band
won Göteborgstalangen and Centrumgbg's Metaltown contests, and advanced
to the finals in the Scandinavian Emergenza, Musik Direkt, and
Partillerocken competitions. Marionette’s success is testament not only
to their energetic and interactive live shows, but also to their
rapidly growing fan-base. Marionette performed twice at Metal Town, one
of Sweden’s largest metal festivals and has been featured in the
Göteborgs Posten, the nation’s second largest newspapers four times.

Without a doubt, Marionette is a gem in the Swedish metal scene,
going beyond the boundaries of the Gothenburg sound. The band’s
explosive live show, coupled with their large, youthful following make
them a group to keep a close eye on as they prepare to tour in support
of Spite, which was released on 28 April 2008 by France’s Listenable
Records. Spite was recorded with a series of talented up and coming
producers as well as established names in Swedish music: including
Simon Exner and two time Swedish Grammy winner Åke Parmerud. Spite was
mixed and mastered by Christian Silver (Sonic Syndicate, By Night, The
Crown) at StudioMega in Varberg Sweden. Marionette’s debut European
tour will hit Germany, Denmark, and BeNeLux, with an exclusive showcase
at PopKomm in Berlin. Marionette will again hit the road in October and
November, this time with Die Apokalyptischen Reiter for a month long
tour of Germany, Switzerland, and Austria. With more tours in the works
to support Spite, Marionette aspires for nothing less than world
domination!

Marionette Release New Song, “Legion” Online, Set To Record Release Party Set For Possible DVD

Gothenburg based death metal sextet Marionette will film their
Spite release party set for possible future DVD release. Handling the
filming and directing the crew will be Robert Karlsson of Revolver Film
Company (Patrick Ullaeus, In Flames, Dimmu Borgir). Marionette also
posted the song “Legion” onto their official Myspace page. Bassist
Mikael Mendin had the following to say regarding the release gig, the
filming, and “Legion”.

“Hello everyone! Once again, we are happy to announce some very
exciting news! We have been working really hard on making the release
show on 3 May at Meeths in Gothenburg to be a special experience for
everyone! We will have a film team led by Robert Karlsson of Revolver
Film Company at the gig to shoot the whole set for some possible DVD
footage! We had a great experience working with Robert on the “Burn Me”
video and we look forward to working with him again on this project.
Spite and all of our merch will be sold at the gig and we will have a
meet and greet with everyone at the gig during the course of evening.
We expect a packed venue, so be sure to show up early to be in front!
Additionally, Ethereal, Simon Exner’s band will be opening, so that is
another great reason to show up early! There will be many surprises and
great times throughout the evening, and we hope that the DVD shooting
will allow those who cannot attend to enjoy the gig as much as
possible!

We have also posted “Legion” onto our myspace page! We hope
everyone enjoys it! Also, Spite was released this week across Europe,
so please check your local stores or our merch shop to get a piece of
the action!”

Spite was recorded with a team of up-and-coming and established
producers in the Swedish scene, including Simon Exner (ETHEREAL) and
two-time Swedish Grammy award winner Åke Parmerud in Gothenburg and
Borås, Sweden. Spite was mixed and mastered by Christian Silver at
Studio Mega (SONIC SYNDICATE, BY NIGHT, THE CROWN) in Varberg, Sweden.
In addition to “Legion”, “Release”, “Burn Me”, “Parasite”, “Burn Me”
and “Flies” are all available for streaming on the band’ official
Myspace Page.

Marionette recently released the music video for the song “Burn
Me”, which was recorded and produced by Robert Karlsson, who works with
acclaimed Swedish video director Patrick Ullaeus (IN FLAMES, DIMMU
BORGIR) at Revolver Film Company. This video, in addition to
Marionette’s live music videos and studio diaries from the Spite
recording session can be viewed on the band’s Youtube Page.
